FAQs
Puerto Vallarta! How do we get there?
Puerto Vallarta has an international airport called Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR).
Where do we stay?
The wedding events are in the “5 de Diciembre” neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta - about a 15 minute walk north of the lively Zona Romantica neighborhood and about 2 miles south of the Zona Hotelera (Resort zone). You can stay wherever you’d like - airbnb, hotel, resort - whatever seems right to you. Just know that all of the events are in the “5 de Diciembre” neighborhood and it is very walkable if you stay there. If you stay in the Zona Hotelera, you will want to take Ubers or cabs - which are cheap ($5-$10 USD) and easy to navigate. Here is a map.
How do we get to our place from the airport?
When you are exiting the airport - there are lots of timeshare/tourist operations trying to get your attention. Just ignore them and keep walking through the people holding signs. Once you are through that hallway, there is an official taxi cab counter with 3 different cab company options (they are more or less the same - just pick one) and they speak English and can help you get an official taxi cab booked to your destination. Just be sure to have the address on hand that you are going to and you can pay here with a card. Once they help you get a cab set up, head outside where there will be someone to help you get into your specific cab. Once we get to our place, we usually tip the driver a few dollars (USD if we don’t have pesos yet).
Is it safe? Is it safe to drink the water?
Puerto Vallarta is very safe and is a common tourist destination.Exercise normal caution as you would traveling anywhere but the city prioritizes tourism and takes measures to ensure the well-being of its visitors. Feel free to ask us any questions. And it is safe to drink the tap water in Puerto Vallarta! However, we buy big jugs of water at an OXXO (corner store) and usually drink from those but have had no problems using tap water to brush teeth, rinse things out, etc.
What should we do while we are there?
There is a lot to do in Puerto Vallarta including excursions, day trips, boat trips, etc. We mostly eat, walk around, relax, and enjoy the water when we are there but you really can’t go wrong. We have a list of our favorite restaurants if you feel like exploring the food scene!
